Since the 1700's the Haward family have been cultivating oysters in and around the creeks of Mersea Island, Essex. We are a small business producing what we believe to be a remarkable oyster.

Starting as a market stall in Battersea, selling the best of the catch from the South Coast, we moved into providing line-caught species to chefs. We care about where our produce comes from, how it is sourced, and what that means to the environment.


We have grown oysters at Butley Creek since the 1950’s and our traditional smokehouse supplies freshly smoked fish every day, whilst out fishing boats provide a variety of locally caught fresh fish.
